In Austin on July 1 ex attache W G Hill fired two shots at State Comptroller R M Love in Love's private office after presenting a letter. Hill, a ten year former employee discharged by Love, was wounded in a scuffle with Chief Clerk Stevens as the assailant attempted to flee. Love died from the wounds, the motive described as insanity or revenge for dismissal.
