Danford Criticised Over West Point Letters to Contractors
A retired Major General, Danford, faced House Armed Services subcommittee scrutiny for sending 10,000 letters under his signature urging military contractors to advertise in the West Point Alumni Foundation’s Register of Graduates. The committee called the letters offensive and veiledly suggested government officers refer to the Register in awards. The Foundation, a non-profit linked to West Point grads, pays Danford $3,000 annually as secretary treasurer. The inquiry also noted only three complaints from the letters and said Danford would be more careful henceforth.
