Citizens group seeks volunteers to reopen Gambrill park
Gambrill Neighborhood Watch Group seeks volunteers to reopen the nearby state park closed for six months to save money. Spokesperson Edward Kraushaar says the group, about 75 families strong, aims to reopen facilities by July 4 and operate them until July 1 with permission from the state Department of Natural Resources. The park earned over $30,000 last year, and county officials pledged support, noting the 15 percent visitor income goes to the county. The plan calls for immediate reopening of the nature trail and North Frederick overlook, with the park currently secured and facilities largely inaccessible.
