Missing bus driver Nuss faces federal kidnapping charges
Students from Oley Valley and nearby towns recount a frightening ride when driver Nuss vanished with 11 to 15 year old children en route to the Berks Christian School. Police tracked him toward Washington, D C, where he surrendered after admitting he took the group against their will. The loaded semiautomatic firearm was found on the bus behind the driver’s seat. Parents, teachers, and police reunited the children in Maryland with counseling and prayers as authorities review the incident and the Quigley Bus Service’s role in the transport.

Redistricting map eyed to tilt Maryland House balance
Analysts debate how the proposed Sixth District changes could shift Maryland’s congressional delegation from a GOP 4 4 split toward Democrats. The plan redraws lines through Anne Arundel Howard and Baltimore counties, with Morgan State University staying in the 4th. Leaders warn incumbents may be protected, while some see a path to two Democratic pickups.

Maryland redistricting sparks debate over new lines
Lawmakers discuss a proposed five district map that preserves current geographic balance while adding a Washington area seat. Critics call the plan partisan and accuse it of packing black voters into certain districts. Supporters say population growth warrants extra representation and maintains two Western/D.C. suburbs districts and three in Baltimore.
