Milk Market Hearing Set For Feb 3 In Baltimore

The U S Department of Agriculture will hold a public hearing in Baltimore on February 3 to consider amending federal milk marketing orders for the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland and Virginia. The cooperatives seek to ease the seasonal drop in Class I prices March through June 1966, proposing price holds at about 20 cents under January levels for April through June and a similar adjustment for March. After evidence, USDA may recommend changes, with farmers, dealers, and consumers able to file comments before a final decision, which requires two thirds approval of area dairy farmers.
