Local youth drowns in backyard pool

Michael Scott Shaffer a 12 year old from Walkersville Maryland died Friday after falling through ice on a snow covered backyard pool He was pulled from the water by volunteers and CPR continued to FMH where he died at 7 12 pm He attended Rock Creek School and authorities warned against walking on suspected ice reminding that the pool ice was only about a half inch thick.

Cool cleanup ahead for county
