Free income tax help starts early for low income seniors and non English speakers
Beginning the first week in February free assistance will be available in Frederick County for low income elderly handicapped and non English speaking individuals to prepare income tax returns. Volunteers require an appointment and a copy of last year tax returns plus all W2 1099 and SSA 1099 forms. Centers include Burr Artz Library Senior Citizens Center Brunswick Thurmont Mount Airy and house venues with set days and contact numbers.

County couple appeals decision clearing surgeon
A Frederick County couple asks a jury to overturn a Maryland Health Claims Arbitration award that cleared Dr Swami Nathan of negligence. The Koontzes allege the surgeon operated June 24, 1963, without informed consent, leaving Witham Koontz a quadriplegic dependent on others. The arbitration panel ruled Dr Nathan not liable and costs were charged to him.
