Tax relief bill aims at three Maryland counties inventory tax
Annapolis January 23 tax relief for Montgomery Prince Georges and Frederick businessmen is planned in a bill drafted for the Maryland General Assembly. The measure would cut inventory tax by 15 percent in Montgomery and Frederick and 40 percent in Prince Georges, leveling to a 60 percent assessment of stock value. Losses are projected at up to 300000 for Prince Georges and smaller sums for Montgomery and Frederick, needing higher property tax rates to offset. Delegate Wilkinson pledged to back inventory tax relief, a plan he and J Frank Lillard Jr. pursued in 1953 though it died then.
