Poolesville cluster coordinator Barry Miller cautions Montgomery County board of education to scrutinize the conservatism in the proposed 576 million operating budget. He urges restoring cut programs and lobbying to avoid repeating last year's budget battles, noting summer programs and ongoing enrollment growth as key factors. NAACP leader Roscoe Nix endorses the budget as a modest request while pressing for funding to boost minority education, math training, and updated curricula with affirmative action support. The board will hold work sessions January 27 28 and February 1 with acting sessions February 2 3.
