Judge jailed man for lateness in Lewistown court
Lewis M. Ropp of Lewistown was jailed Friday for arriving 40 minutes late to his misdemeanor theft case before District Court Judge Frederick J. Bower. The judge issued a $750 bench warrant, and Ropp, recently from Martinsburg VA Hospital, was jailed in lieu of bond after his arrival.

Barricaded Vet Seized by SWAT in Gaithersburg
A 41 year old Gaithersburg man, Vietnam veteran Thomas Allen Dundas, barricaded himself for four hours on King James Way as police served indecent exposure and assault warrants. SWAT used tear gas and forced entry after failed contact, and Dundas was later subdued and taken to Springfield State Hospital for evaluation.
