Maryland State Police resume helicopter service at Frederick Muni cipal Airport with four crews. Two troopers Cpl. Gregory A. Ma and Tie Carey Poetzman died early Sunday after a Medevac mission as weather was cited as a factor in the crash near the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems. Wreckage was removed to Glenn L. Martin State Airport for NTSB investigation. Services for May and Poetzman set at Hagerstown and Reisterstown churches with a memorial service planned at Dickerson Methodist Church.
About 1,800 Frederick County residents have received MEAP aid this winter with 1,898 applications filed. Statewide 17.5 million of 28 million allocated has been spent, and officials expect to assist up to 96,000 households this year. Applications close March 31 at the Department of Social Services in Frederick.
BankAmerica Corp faces a record 4.75 million dollar penalty for currency transaction violations as the bank also suspends dividends for the first time in 50 years. U S Treasury cited 17 000 reports missing between 1980 and early 1985 amid a broad crackdown affecting 11 other banks.
ROCKVILLE Police prepare a lineup for a Keedysville woman believed to be a potential rape victim of Richard Dale Baumgardner 15. He faces charges for abduction and rape in Wheaton Plaza case, with other assaults under investigation. His brother Wayne helped secure capture. a court-appointed defender Office of Public Defender represents him.
Temperatures rose to 49 in Frederick as Monday's snowfall created travel hazards in northern and western areas. County officials salted roads with eight trucks clearing Wolfsville Sabillasville roads by noon. The forecast calls for partly sunny mild conditions with highs in the 50s and a breezy night, followed by a windy cold day Thursday with highs in the 40s. Wind-driven warmth spanned the northern Plains and Mississippi Valley with many areas over 70 degrees.
