Elwood Lee Morgan aged 46 shot his wife Winifred Catherine Morgan 43 on North Market Street and then killed himself. The bodies were found Friday afternoon in their second floor apartment as neighbors noted mail accumulation and the couple’s absence. The gun was a .22 caliber revolver found near Morgan. Autopsies will be conducted at the Baltimore City Morgue. Police continue the investigation.
The AFL-CIO International Longshoremen's Association reached a tentative pact with New York shipping firms pledging fines if members refuse to work any assigned pier. The deal retains the guaranteed annual wage for 17,500 longshoremen and would raise basic hourly pay from 4.60 to 6.10 over three years.
President Nixon asks Congress to pass a bill forcing 13 000 ILWU dock workers back to work while a three member arbitration panel negotiates a binding settlement within 18 months. Hearings likely mid next week as lawmakers consider the measure amid a prolonged coastwise walkout causing hundreds of millions in damage.

Opponents say the plan makes teachers political appointees and threatens tenure, while supporters argue stronger evaluation benefits the profession. The bill also raises the probationary period for new teachers from two to three years.
Frederick Memorial Hospital limits visitors due to flu surge with one visitor allowed per patient. Restrictions apply to critical care obstetrics pediatrics. hospitals in Hagerstown and Baltimore have similar controls. Administrator Wallace Dow notes occupancy at 85 to 90 percent and says limits aim to reduce flu spread during the outbreak.
The Frederick County Red Cross Bloodmobile will stop at the Church of the Brethren on Fairview Avenue and Second Street Monday morning. Chairman James A. Grove urged donors, noting prior low turnout and the higher demand this season. Type O Negative donors are especially needed for a 10 a.m. operation, with walk-ins welcome through 3:30 p.m.
