Limiting liquor licenses proposed by Frederick County dealers

Frederick County delegation unanimously backed a bill to cut liquor licenses by about half, shifting the per capita ratio from one per 2,000 to one per 4,000 people across 20 districts. Liquor Store Association President Bob Smith urged approval, arguing existing licenses fail to reflect growth since the 1990 census and that reduced caps curb illegal sales and aid enforcement. The bill passed 8-0 along with six other local measures, with one delegate opposing repeals of a licensing requirement.
