Two Hurt In Route 40 Crash At Seven Sisters Hills
Two men were injured and about $4,000 in damage resulted from a three vehicle crash on Route 40 at the Seven Sisters Hills about 1:30 AM. Clovis H. Dudley of Thurmont Route 1 was admitted with burns from gasoline spill. John H. Brant of Hagerstown suffered facial lacerations and was discharged after treatment. Maynard Brooks of Staunton Va, driver of the tractor-trailer, and Gilbert Ware of Hagerstown, driving the other car, also involved. Dudley’s truck overturned. damage to the tractor-trailer exceeded $2,000. Charges pending.

Firefighters from Middletown, aided by a bucket brigade, controlled the blaze. flooring under a wood range burned 18 inches, damaging an electric stove and refrigerator. Two chickens left in a deep freeze were charred. The family and firemen prevented spread, but smoke caused damage.

Davis Named Head of Commodity Credit Corp
WASHINGTON Davis of B Gay will take office Wednesday as head of the Commodity Credit Corporation in the Agriculture Department. Joseph Martin Hurt of Route 4 paid fines totalling 45 dollars for failure to stop after a property damage accident and other offenses. MM Thelma Baker of Doubs testified Hart passed her and cut into a close, forcing her car into a fence on Ballenger Creek road January 12 at about 4 35 p m. Damages: about 50 dollars to Mrs Baker’s car and 10 dollars to Hurt’s car. A tractor trailer operator from Baltimore, Robert C Kinner, passed a disabled truck on Steiners Hill about 4 30 a m last Tuesday forcing an oncoming car off the highway as D D Dunlap of Route 2 Middletown traveled toward Frederick. Dunlap’s car sustained about 300 dollars damage and Sowers’ car about 150 dollars after colliding with the Dunlap car which had turned on its side. Sowers of Route 2 Middletown was fined 25 dollars for reckless driving. Kinner’s tractor trailer sustained minor damage. collateral was forfeited by Robert J Boyle of Baltimore for improper passing. Maurice C Diggs of Five and 2 Half street was fined 5 dollars for failure to obey a traffic signal.
