Frederick Jaycees Celebrate 27 Years of Civic Service
Frederick Jaycees mark 27 years since their 1938 founding as a junior chamber. The group will honor Outstanding Young Man at Bosses Night Banquet next Tuesday with special certificates, while noting projects from sewerage to airport promotion and YMCA filtration funding. A year’s Frederick Jaycees membership immerses a young man in activities such as presenting the Outstanding Young Man award and selecting the county’s Outstanding Young Farmer. Vigilant Hose Company backs loss in Emmitsburg
Jaycee Projects Vigilant Hose Company of Emmitsburg faced a $250 loss. The Independent Hose Company of Frederick put out a small grass fire near the city dump off Gas House Pike, about two acres burned. Earlier, the Independents and United Fire Company tackled a trash fire at Maryland Tank Transportation on Highland Street, with no damage. In Brindisi Italy, workers digging a cellar uncovered a dozen well preserved wine amphorae bearing Roman artisan Eubulus signs.
