In Saigon the Viet Cong declared a four day lunar new year truce after light attacks culminated in a mass killing at a refugee camp near Tam Ky. Thirty three killed and 54 wounded as fighters set huts ablaze and executed families. US advisers reported nine men kidnapped and leaflets denouncing US actions. Allied cease fire runs 78 hours, from noon Thursday to 6 p.m. Sunday. US ops continue until noon Thursday. The 1st Infantry Division engaged 500 Viet Cong 22 miles northwest of Saigon before air support halted the clash.
