Congregation seeks rezoning for Gaithersburg Nazarene Church

Gaithersburg Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene on Brooks Avenue plans to sell and relocate to Goshen and Warfield Roads. The church requests rezoning from institutional to residential office to ease sale and fit future offices and a large auditorium. The sale price is $249,750 with parsonage. appraisal at $285,000.

Brent Johnson sees bright future for community colleges

Dr. Brent Johnson executive director of the State Board of Community Colleges told the Frederick Lions Club that the future looks bright for community colleges while urging taxpayers to demand quality services and value. He cited Frederick Community College potential for excellence but warned it can be ruined by a chaotic environment amid a recent enrollment padding scandal that cost the state 164000. FCC's former continuing education dean Patrick L. Christoff began a four month prison term for his role. Johnson discussed the board’s role since 1989 overseeing 17 colleges, including funding decisions and capital projects.
