Court finds probable cause in Palm Ballard death case
District Court Judge Stanley Y. Bennett held there are sufficient reasons for probable cause in the case charging Samuel E. Palm with first degree murder in the death of Jesse James Ballard. Maryland State Police Detective Sgt. Victor Wolfe testified Palm, suspicious of his wife's car, blocked Ballard's pickup and struck him with a baseball bat on Big Woods Road near Urbana on December 15, 1979.

Frederick panel weighs half fare for disabled riders
The city board of aldermen and transportation committee will study a request by Douglas J. Halford of the Disabled Citizens of Frederick County United Inc. to allow handicapped citizens to ride city buses at half fare. Alderman James S. In other business, the city accepted a 26400 bid for an ambulance, approved 2300 to install a sewage flow meter at Monocacy River station, endorsed engineering services for Singanore Water Filtration Plant, granted a Baker Park children’s fair on April 19, and allowed an Easter Egg hunt by Z-104 at the same park on April 18.
