Gives Figures On L70 West
The State Roads Commission submitted a new engineering cost estimate for the Frederick to Hagerstown section of Interstate 70 to the Bureau of Public Roads. In a letter signed by John B. Funk, the SRC chair, the agency said more detailed location studies show line B-1 would cost about 268000 dollars more than line B-2, a difference earlier put at 500000 dollars. Funk argued B-1 better satisfies economic and traffic needs, making the higher cost less significant.

Temporary bridge to replace Linganore Creek collapse west of New London
County Engineer Southey Nottingham says a temporary four-pipe corrugated metal bridge will replace the collapsed Gas House Pike span across Linganore Creek. The 32 foot long, 40 foot wide structure will allow two lanes and cost 7000 to 8000 dollars. Construction could start next week and is weather dependent. The approach road, just over two feet above water, would flood if water rises eight feet, with the road remaining submerged by more than five feet.
