Retired FI S Executive Dies After Short Illness
George R. Hargis Jr. former vice president of the Pump Division at Frederick Iron and Steel Inc. died at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was 78. He joined the company in 1924, became Chief Engineer, was named Pump Division vice president in 1954, and retired July 1, 1960 after 36 years of service. He studied engineering in Philadelphia and held several patents. He is survived by his wife Martha, two sons, two sisters, three grandchildren, and other relatives. Funeral arrangements were pending with Etchison and Son.

Five U S servicemen died and three wounded in Mekong Delta helicopter actions. A UHSA aircraft apparently blew up in flight southwest of Saigon, killing four and wounding three.
