Souths slam bid hinges on luck and card reading
North bid six spades after intuition about high diamonds, but only with South's precise card reading and a stroke of luck. West led hearts, South ruffed, and after a sequence of trumps and ruffs he reached a position where East's hidden clubs and West's remaining ace determined the slam. East had passed, leaving West with the key remaining ace. The final run of diamonds depended on West discarding a club, allowing South to win the last two diamonds.
