Paralyzed Student Hurt In Auto Crash
A Walkersville High School student, Allen Charles Mason, 17, was listed in fairly good condition at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a head on crash south of Frederick Tuesday afternoon. Mason, paralyzed from the waist down from an earlier polio attack, suffered skull and ankle fractures, rib fractures and severe lacerations. He drove a hand controlled 1955 Ford, with charges pending as his condition was not stable. The other driver Cecil C. Brooks, 56, of Frederick, drove a 1958 Chevrolet.

Poker Attack Case Heard
A 70 year old man was beaten with a stove poker in his North Market street home. Calvin L. Stone was charged with assault and battery after the January 4 attack. Two gunmen in business suits robbed the First Presbyterian church of more than $1,000 during a new members night. They forced the business manager Robert Bruce Young Jr. to open the safe as about 200 people watched. The attackers wore gloves and used automatics with a lookout at the doorway. In Birmingham, Alabama, dynamite blasts damaged three Negro churches causing minor injuries to two police officers. no one was inside the buildings at blast time.
