Homewood Retirement Centers of the United Church of Christ Inc secures conditional zoning approval to build a $20 million continuing care community on Willow Road near U S 15. Construction is slated to begin in early 1997, lasting 18 months to two years. The 27 136 acre parcel will house 120 independent living apartments, 30 cottages, 120 nursing beds, 60 assisted living rooms and a center, plus a bank post office barber shop recreational facilities and a country store. Attorney Richard Burgee says the project aligns with the city’s comprehensive plan and will create over 200 jobs with added real estate taxes while burden on public services remains low.
