Man sentenced in industrial documents case
A Boston consultant, Chief Min Sung, was sentenced to six months home detention after pleading guilty to interstate transportation of GE technical documents. U.S. District Judge David S. Nelson also fined Sung $200,000 and ordered restitution of $120,000 to General Electric. Sung admitted he kept about 8 cents worth of documents with GE ownership, then left in 1989 for Norton Co. Officials seized the documents from his home amid suspicions of private business activity while at Norton. Prosecutors and defense described Sung as an authority on man-made diamonds.
