Turmoil in Azerbaijan as troops move to quell violence
In Nagorno Karabakh and surrounding areas a state of emergency was imposed as troops attempt to restore order amid fierce clashes between Azerbaijanis and Armenians. At least 56 killed and 156 injured, with 167 pogroms and arson cases reported, as civilians suffer in the worst violence since the Nagorno Karabakh clashes began two years ago.

Maryland gets new twin engine medevac helicopter Trooper 23
A new twin engine Dauphin 2 medevac helicopter, named Trooper 23, went into service in Frederick seven months early at 4.3 million dollars. It replaces a single engine Jet Ranger and is IFR capable though not used on missions yet. The hangar at Andrews is unfinished, allowing the unit to operate from Frederick with space for both craft. Washington County rescues push for Hagerstown site, but officials have not approved.

Oil spill on Carroll Creek prompts duck rescue efforts
