Two Hispanic men burglarized a Clopper Road residence in Gaithersburg Wednesday afternoon. They assaulted a 31 year old woman, attempted rape, and held a gun to her head after demanding money and jewelry. The weapon did not discharge and the suspects fled around 2 p.m. The victim was found semi conscious by her son.
A woman fled from two black male suspects in their 20s who kicked in a garage door and breached a locked bedroom at a Deer Lake Drive home about 4 30 a.m. The attackers struck the male resident with a shotgun and fled with his car keys, while the victim and car remain missing as police search the area.
The forecast covers Western Maryland and Maryland Mountains with tonight and Saturday conditions. Lows around 20s to mid 20s and highs near 40 in western areas, cooler mountain temps and mixed sun. Extended outlook shows mostly cloudy, cold with flurries in mountains, then mostly sunny early next week.

Talbot County Sheriff John Ellerbusch Jr. was indicted by a grand jury on felony theft and misconduct in office for allegedly pilfering more than 71000 from the department. He also faces charges of filing false income tax returns for 1990 and 1991, with offenses said to span 1988 to 1992.
Bel Air man Roy James Gillim, 32, barricaded himself in a second floor bedroom and pointed a loaded revolver at state police during a confrontation. A state police trooper fired, Gillim was wounded and died later at Shock Trauma Center. Internal affairs opened to determine if the trooper acted properly.
Harold Benjamin Dean, 40, who fled Maryland's Supermax in 1991, was extradited from Franklin County Ohio to Maryland after withdrawing opposition. He had been working under a false name at a Reynoldsburg Sunoco. Maryland police have 10 days to pick him up from jail.
