Montgomery County cites CPI based adjustments. pre-1978 hires see about 6-7 percent, newer hires around 4 percent.

GSA presses transfer of top investigator amid harassment claim

Washington GSA Administrator Rowland Freeman11 will push ahead with the Wednesday transfer of William A. Clinkscales Jr deputy inspector general for investigations despite a charge of political harassment. Clinkscales, 52, contests the move in a letter to a personnel board, saying it strips him of investigative duties and damages his role ahead of a Senate hearing. The case follows his role in uncovering widespread corruption and comes as a Senate Governmental Affairs subcommittee plans hearings in early February. Local items note Elvis doctor malpractice testimony and Western Maryland College Dean's List names, but the transfer dominates the report.

GSA to transfer investigations office amid deputy dispute

Freeman says the office of investigations will move to a unit reviewing government security classifications. GSA Inspector General Kurt Muellenberg cited a lack of professional relationship with his deputy as the reason. A draft audit shows over $500,000 spent on unused New York City office space in 21 months and potential another $300,000 before a four month sublease ends. The audit faulted New York public buildings handlers for poor judgment in subleasing at One Lefrak City Plaza, Queens, and suggested the disclosures could trigger an investigation into possible malfeasance. Charles LeDuc declined comment pending review.
