Military leaders warn China of consequences if Korea war resumes
General Ridgway and Secretary Stevens told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that withdrawal of two U.S. divisions from Korea is under review. They urged ratification of a mutual security pact with South Korea, stressing its Pacific security role. They noted Chinese withdrawals but said Red strength remains near a million, with rebuilt airfields after the armistice. The defense message warned Beijing against renewed hostilities. Secretary of State Dulles echoed the warning in other words. The Bayeux tapestry is briefly described by the encyclopedia.
