A high pressure system over the southeastern U S brings a southerly flow for Maryland Wednesday with milder temperatures. A Canadian cold front Friday shifts conditions to much colder for the weekend and possible snow. Western Maryland counties stay clear and cold tonight with 25 to 42, sunny and milder Wednesday 48 to 54, with partly sunny mild Thursday. Maryland mountains trend milder through Wednesday with highs near 40 today, near 30 Wednesday. Death penalty upheld in rape murder case
A Sixth Circuit judge ruled the death penalty statute constitutional and denied defense requests to strike the death penalty and the first jury. Mitchell M. Moore, 31, of southeast Washington, was convicted of first degree rape and murder in Silver Spring in 1984.
