County Court Battle Over Courthouse Financing Reaches State Court
Frederick County lawyers argued before Maryland’s Court of Appeals that Cam Construction cannot claim $977,900 in subcontractor fees in a $215 million courthouse project. The county fired Cam in 1982 for alleged shoddy work and withheld $490,000, while Cam countersued for $2.5 million for breach of contract and delays. A new arbitration phase is set for February as the court weighs whether the owner must cover prime contractor costs regardless of subcontractor contracts.
