Hotel explosion in Fremont claims up to twenty dead
In Fremont Nebraska a raging gas explosion levelled the Pathfinder Hotel injuring and killing many. Manager Jim Rhodes had smelled gas and called the gas company before the blast. By Sunday twelve bodies were recovered and the toll was expected to rise to about twenty as rescuers searched the debris. Three Nebraska Natural Gas Co workers were among the missing and later found dead in the basement area near the heating plant. An investigation by the state fire marshal is ongoing with no immediate cause determined.
