A 1970 housing survey shows Montgomery County with a high median price for new homes at 41 342 and older homes at 31 068, while only four new homes sold for 25 000 or less. The report highlights barriers to black Washingtonians moving to the county, limited access to mobile homes due to zoning, and a tax and affordability squeeze threatening the suburban ideal.
