Mount Etna eruption fears after Sicilian quake
After a great earthquake shattered Messina Reggio and other Sicilian and Calabrian towns residents fled Catani and Taormina fearing Mount Etna would erupt. All volcanoes in the quake zone showed activity but Stromboli in the Lipari Islands did the most damage.

In Allentown Pa on January 12 the body of Leopold Ermann a jewelry peddler missing since November 18 was found dismembered beneath a concrete floor of a closed brooder. A double barreled shotgun was found with one barrel empty and investigators suspect it was used. Detectives Reese and others who aided in uncovering the remains report a satchel with jewelry found near the body.
