Run Down at Last Butler Captured in City for Counterfeiting
George B. Butler aka Hayes and Byrnes, a noted counterfeiter known for boodle shoving, was tracked from New York to this city and arrested at 644 North 4th Street at 2 a.m. He had fled across the country after sumping bail in 1882 and was turned over to New York authorities later yesterday. Butler, about 45, ran a swindle offering counterfeit coin and sawdust-filled boxes sold to dupes. associates include Raul Abrams and George Stanley, both jailed in New York or New Jersey.
