The Merchant mill owned by C Schweiz burned yesterday with a $15000 loss and no insurance. Also reported are the disappearance of Chaz Delmonico, the Gaithersburg post office moving to the railroad station, and a Seven Rivers raid killing four Mexican workers.
A young woman Agnes Austin, daughter of a village apothecary, allegedly aided inmate Ford Roderick in a prison escape plan and married him in jail after riding from Sageville, Hamilton County. She reportedly stole a horse from a farmer to aid their union, with Roderick awaiting trial for horse theft. The tale details church aid, jealousy from her father, and a bold jail wedding as the couple’s fate unfolds.
Mrs Martha A C Zimmerman wife of farmer Francis Mo Zimmerman of near Manor Church died suddenly around 9 o clock Thursday morning from a stroke of apoplexy. She prepared breakfast and appeared healthy earlier that day and died within a half hour after the stroke. She was 43 and leaves a husband four children and many relatives. Funeral was at the Reformed Church in Jefferson on Saturday with Rev N H Skyles and Rev A J Heller officiating. Hegister.
