Call on Jackson pitch stirs NFL replay debate

Associated Press notes Bobby Ross called the illegal forward pass on Miami's Keith Jackson a crummy call. Referee Johnnie Grier and NFL officiating chief Jerry Seeman upheld the call in the Dolphins 22 21 loss to San Diego. The ruling, later affirmed by Seeman, could spur a rule change at the March Competition Committee meeting chaired by Don Shula and George Young.

Not all lawmakers sign Osborne honor resolution

In Lincoln Nebraska AP not everyone was happy as the Legislature adopted a resolution praising coach Tom Osborne and the Nebraska football team for the national championship. Forty six of forty nine members signed the resolution with three senators not signing. Jerome Warner Ernie Chambers and Chris Abboud did not sign. Chambers criticized college football programs that he says rake in millions while neglecting players. The body then voted to recognize players as well, noting Osborne earned a fifty thousand dollar bonus for the Orange Bowl and national title while players received none.
