When to feed and sell soybeans for bypass protein
The note weighs bean economics versus soybean meal costs. With beans at 5.60 per unit and 0.06 processing, total 6.20 equals 260 per ton meal. At 220 per ton meal, selling beans to buy meal plus 0.35 delivery favors selling beans. It questions whether bypass protein is needed, noting solvent meal is rumen soluble while properly roasted beans yield about 50 percent bypass protein.
