Area plans to join national nuclear attack survival program
George J. Stup Civil Defense director said he will decide soon if the CD area will participate in a federal program to train at least one family member in emergency medical care. The plan aims to train 10 million per year with a 50 million goal and runs alongside Red Cross first aid training. A derailment near the area disrupted freight traffic as officials noted the program’s launch in several states early this year.
