Virginia Town Swept By Fire
A wind driven blaze in Martinsville Virginia last night caused a million dollar loss in the heart of the furniture district. Firemen battled the flames for four hours and containment was achieved around 2 am. The fire destroyed a tobacco warehouse three three story buildings and a two door structure along with many small shacks. Estimated damage reached a million dollars with heavy smoke and water damage to nearby businesses. Hardest hit were two large furniture firms whose buildings held substantial merchandise.
