Borrowed Instrument Aids Hormone Study
SAN FRANCISCO AP scientists at the University of California San Francisco announced a breakthrough in human growth hormone synthesis. Faced with inflation and budget cuts they borrowed a $30 000 instrument from the Children’s Cancer Research Institute to finish the work led by Dr C H Li. The 188 amino acid protein hormone could probe diseases such as cancer and dwarfism and, like animal hormones, hasten healing and boost immune response.
