Neighbors bid to buy land after zoning hearing
Clarence G Hohn Hegis Mailer and Earl Rice led a group to offer to purchase the Charles F Stewer and Doris L Stouter property on Emmiteburg Route 3 following a three hour Board of Zoning Appeals hearing. The bid stems from a $25 000 fire that damaged tanks and prompted fears of further property loss. Thomas Glass represented the neighbors while Stouter sought restoration of 30000 gallons of gasoline and storage tank capacity. Zoning Inspector J Alfred Cutsail approved the 30000 gallon restoration. Stouter’s expansion requests for an additional 10000 gallons above ground and 20000 gallons below ground were denied by County Planner Arthur Hatton.
