Afghans Seen Key in Bin Laden Hunt Strategy

Military shuts down Camp Rhino base in Afghanistan
The U.S. military closes Camp Kuno near Kandahar and transfers Kandahar airport operations from Marines to the Army's 11th Airborne. Capt. Stewart Upton says the 11th Airborne advance guard is at the airport while the 26th Marines wrap up and head to ships in the Arabian Sea. About 290 detainees are held at the prison, planned for up to 400, with transfers to facilities outside Afghanistan. The base, 35 miles south of Kandahar, was built by a wealthy Arab sheik and deemed redundant as operations shift to the airport.
