West Coast May Get Out Of Rose Bowl
Riverside Calif Jan 34 Possibility that participation of the Pacific Coast Conference in annual Rose Bowl football games might be discontinued rocked the organization at its meeting here. Prof H E Paul Everest president of the conference disclosed that a special PCC meeting would be held after the NCAA convention in Dallas to reach a definite conclusion on the fate of the Rose Bowl. Everest said rising post season pressures and subsidizing of athletic programs troubled faculty representatives athletic directors and coaches for years. The conference will also address the Big Ten renewal pact and a possible Coast Big Ten all star game. The report notes that PCC teams have hosted the Rose Bowl since World War II except recent years with Big Ten teams guest entrants. A fossil note on Baluchitherium concludes the item.
