Blind students learn biology by tactile lab at Indiana U
William Waskoski, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has converted a stockroom into a self instructional biology laboratory for the blind. The setup features five stalls with tactile materials including fresh and preserved specimens, brained drawings, models, and tape recordings. In a blood circulation exercise, a tape directs students to feel a dissected sheep heart. The frog dissection is the favorite, as students gain hands-on experience and skills sometimes surpassing sighted peers. The program also includes normal lectures and field trips, such as a creek visit, with careful guidance for safety.

House filled with friendly spirits in Tudor Hall home
Howard and Dorothy Fox say the Booth family spirits haunt their Tudor Hall house in 12 years of occupancy. They report voices, mirrors crashing, and upside-down cakes as friendly tricks from Junius Brutus Booth and kin. The Booths left after John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln in 1865.

Mysterious disturbances plague Frederick household
Last week Mrs. Fox heard a crash in the dining room as a mirror shattered and flew from the wall. Electrical appliances unplugged themselves and wouldn’t work. Suga and water were thrown on beds while heavy footsteps and the sound of breaking crystal were reported. Mrs. Fox recalls a voice crying for help from upstairs, echoing like it came through a wind tunnel as a thud rang out.
