Bank Bandit Sought After $10,558 Robbery in Burtonsville
A 17 state alert is issued for a lone gunman who robbed the Citizens National Bank of Laurel Burtonsville branch, escaping on foot with $10,558. Bank staff described a white man 40 to 50, about 5 feet 8, 160 pounds, wearing a black stocking mask and speaking in a deep voice. The bank sits at Maryland 198 and Maryland 7, near Ft Meade. Fires Burn Through Barn and Buckeystown Warehouse
Two fires kept city and county crews busy for hours. A hay barn near Mt. Pleasant suffered extensive damage, with firefighters chopping through a tin roof to douse embers. the barn is owned by Darwin Burriex. In Buckeystown a one story frame warehouse burned, damaging two forklifts and miscellaneous building supplies, with cause not determined. Armed Robbers Captured After Martinsburg Heist
Four men and a juvenile from Martinsburg West Virginia were arrested near Brunswick after a car was seen with a stuck safe in its trunk. Officers Merriman Hedden English Loeber and state police boxed in the group. The safe held about 600 dollars and checks from a Leesburg Amoco station robbery.
