Assembly To Begin Wednesday Fresh contes for House leadership emerge
Annepolis January 2 A tormented race for House floor leader begins as LeRoy Pumphrey faces rivals from Prince Georges and Baltimore to seize the post. Speculation mixes with early caucus plans while looming bids for Senate chair powers stir bold forecasts and possible governor involvement. The session opens Wednesday with so far unresolved contest dynamics across parties. A separate note records a park wreck on West Patrick Street with Wakefield charged with reckless driving after a New Year crash injuring a parked car, and several marriage licenses issued in Westminster.
