Walkersville Power Interruption Planned Saturday

Potomac Edison crews will cut electrical service for three hours on Saturday March 19 from 6 to 9 a.m. to repair lines damaged by suspected vandalism. The shut off affects Dublin Manor Devon Farm Green Village Fountain Rock Spring Garden Estates Glade Manor Glade Towne and Colony Village, from Biggs Ford Road to Links Bridge Road and Daysville Road from Md 194 to Cabbage Run Road, including Daysville Acres.

Weather forecast outlines cold arctic high impact

An arctic high centered over the north central shale region brings fair but cold conditions through Sunday with temperatures easing next week to allow a rain system instead of snow. Sunday should be less harsh with highs 35 to 40. Maryland mountains see flurries today, highs near 20s, tonight’s lows around 10. Saturday partly sunny and cold, highs in the 20s. Yesterday’s temps ranged Frederick 35 to 28, Westminster 25, Hagerstown 38 to 28, Cumberland 37 to 27, Oakland 28 to 21.

Hearing Waived in Beating Case Against Thurmont Father

A 36 year old Thurmont man waived a preliminary hearing in district court on charges he beat his 14 year old son repeatedly from last February through December. Police say the boy disclosed the abuse at school after a December 4 injury, accusing his father of multiple beatings.
