Hood dean in middle of rioting in Cairo

Marvin Farbstein of Hood College, in Egypt since last weekend as part of an accreditation review team at the American University of Cairo, faced a possible delay leaving as Cairo and other cities erupted in clashes. He stayed in the Nile Hilton as curfews and shutdowns followed police desertion and looting, with about 120 Americans in the area. Farbstein’s daughter said he prepared for a direct U.S. to Cairo flight and took precautions to stay safe while authorities battled mobs and fires in Cairo and Maadi neighborhoods.
