FARM Drops Libel Suit Over Corrections and Local Fight
In Poolesville FARM drops a libel suit against Western Montgomery Bulletin editor Stanley A. Janet after corrections ran December 16 and January 6 on the front page. The feud centered on a June 24, 1995 editorial accusing FARM of anti business and anti growth stance linked to a Saudi polo grounds dispute. The agreement covers attorney fees and a substantial payment to Sugarloaf Citizens Association to oppose landfill or incinerator plans. Nearby Damascus reports a $75,000 house fire sparked by a faulty dishwasher motor with $65,000 structure and $10,000 contents damage.
