Coalition argues Internet deserves First Amendment protection
A San Francisco coalition led by Microsoft and the American Library Association argues the Internet is like a newspaper and should enjoy the same First Amendment protections. They plan to file a Philadelphia lawsuit challenging the Communications Decency Act, seeking to redefine indecency and limit penalties while detailing how the Internet functions as a user controlled medium. The case aims to push a broader legal framework for online speech beyond the ACLU filing that blocked the act.
